payroll & human resource manager

Summary

The Manager will be directly involved with and have full oversight of the Payroll and Human Resource functions with authority to implement and/or streamline processes to add efficiencies to current systems and procedures.  This position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).  The core responsibilities of these two functions include:

PAYROLL:

  • Manage, analyze, and process accurate and timely weekly (field/union) and bi-weekly (office) payrolls including applicable tax payments, garnishments, and all associated reporting requirements (monthly, quarterly, and annual)

  • Perform necessary journal entries and account reconciliations, and provide general ledger support

  • Maintain and update all trade rates, job classifications, and standard labor costs as needed

  • Provide necessary assistance to CFO and the accounting department

HUMAN RESOURCES:
  • Overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resource function including policies and programs to support the Company’s business objectives
  • Support of company personnel and policies as it relates to benefits administration, onboarding, and training; maintain and update internal systems and procedures as appropriate
  • Ensure compliance with and evaluate the impact of all existing and proposed federal, state, and local (including project specific) employment and benefit laws, requirements and regulations

The preferred candidate

  • Understanding of the procedures, concepts and practices of the payroll and human resource functions

  • High attention to detail and unwavering integrity, professionalism, and customer service focus

  • Adaptability and strong interpersonal skills are necessary as this position involves a broad range of responsibilities and requires interaction with a large group of employees and managers

  • Ability to rely on independent judgment and professional experience to ensure work and team goals are accomplished and timelines are met.

  • Familiarity with payroll services, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office; capacity for learning and growth to add skills and implement system and efficiency improvements over time

  • 5 to 10 years of payroll, human resource, and/or benefits administration experience required

  • Accounting experience or education desired

  • Familiarity with union payroll and the construction industry preferred
