Since its founding in 1925, a group of talented, principled, and driven individuals has led The Albert M. Higley Co.; qualities which continue with today’s leadership. Each member of our management team possesses a unique set of skills and experiences, bringing a well-rounded perspective to every aspect of our business. Mr. Higley received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University in 1980. After graduating, he worked for a large Pacific Northwest construction firm, joining The Albert M. Higley Co. in 1984. After progressing through several positions, Mr. Higley was elected Chairman in 2008. Mr. Higley is extensively involved in both the construction industry and the community serving on multiple boards and committees.
Mr. Vaughan received a BEng in Civil Engineering in 1991 from University of Trent in the United Kingdom, and in 1993, a M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. Mr. Vaughan joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2001 as a Regional Manager, and was elected President in 2010. He was named CEO in 2017. Mr. Vaughan is a graduate of Leadership Cleveland and is extensively involved in both the construction industry and the community.
Mr. Barone received a B.S. in Finance from The University of Akron in 1994. He began his career in commercial banking as an internal auditor and credit analyst. After earning an M.B.A. from Case Western Reserve University in 2000, he went on to serve in various corporate financial analysis and leadership roles in the technology and homebuilding industries. Mr. Barone joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2016 as Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Sehlhorst received a B.A. in Industrial Management in 1984 from the University of Kentucky. The same year he began working with a large southeast Ohio construction company where he spent 15 years, the last five as its Operations Manager. Mr. Sehlhorst joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2006 as a Regional Manager, and in 2008 was promoted to Vice President of Pre-Construction Services. Mr. Sehlhorst is a LEED® Accredited Professional.
Mr. Pastir received a B.S. in Construction Technology from the University of Akron in 1994, and joined The Albert M. Higley Co. the same year as a Project Engineer. He was promoted to Project Manager in 1998, Project Executive in 2013, and was made a Vice President of Operations in 2015. Mr. Pastir is a member of ASHE and received his Healthcare Construction Certificate in 2004. He became a LEED® Accredited Professional (BD+C) the same year.
Ms. Dodson received her Associate of Arts in Applied Business from Cuyahoga Community College in 2000. That same year, she began her career in the AEC industry as a Design Representative. She later continued her career as an Account Executive in the industry; following promotion to Sales Manager. Anna joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2017 as Vice President of Business Development. Ms. Dodson is an active member of the Cleveland and greater Northeast Ohio community; involved with such organizations as Greater Cleveland Partnership, NAIOP, and Cleveland Bridge Builders.
Mr. Pastor began his construction career as a Sheet Metal Worker in 1988. In 1997 he began working for a general contractor in the northeast Ohio area and joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2007 as Senior Estimator and MEP Coordinator. In 2009, he became a LEED® Accredited Professional and was named Senior Preconstruction and MEP Manager shortly thereafter. In 2017, Jason was named AMHigley's Vice President of Preconstruction.
Mr. Heinicke received a B.A. in Biology from Denison University in 1973, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Cleveland State University in 1976. He began his construction career in 1976 as a Project Engineer with an international petrochemical engineering and construction company and joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 1983 as a Project Manager. In 1993, Mr. Heinicke became Manager of Field Operations and was elected Vice President in 1995.
Mr. Lewers received a B.A. in Architecture from Iowa State University in 1975 and an MBA from Baldwin Wallace College in 1988. After having served as a property manager in the commercial banking industry, Mr. Lewers joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 1988 and became Vice President of the Commercial Interiors Group in 1997. Mr. Lewers is a LEED® Accredited Professional (BD+C) and serves as Corporate Officer of Sustainability.
Mr. Lippert received a B.S. in Marketing as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Penn State University in 1989, and a M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2001. In a 22-year, highly decorated career with the United States Army, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and was directly responsible for more than $15 billion in defense contracts. Mr. Lippert joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2010 as Vice President of Safety & Quality Assurance.

In 1998, Mr. Vega earned his B.S. in Construction Management from Bowling Green State University. He began his career with a large international construction company. At that firm, he worked as a Project Engineer and Estimator. He next joined a regional construction management firm where he served as Superintendent, Estimator and Project Manager. Mr. Vega joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2013 as a Project Manager and was named a Project Executive in 2015. In 2016, Mark was named AMHigley’s Corporate Office Market Leader.
Mr. Cicen earned a B. S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Akron in 1998. He began his construction career the same year as a Project Engineer with a large northeast Ohio based general contractor. He joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2000 as an Assistant Superintendent. He earned promotion to Project Manager in 2003, Senior Project Manager in 2011, and Project Executive in 2014. Kevin is a member of the Construction Management Association of America. He became ASHE Certified in 2006, a LEED® AP in 2009, and a CHC in 2017. In 2016, Kevin was named AMHigley’s Healthcare Market Leader.
Mr. Meehan received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1986; and soon after began working for a large national construction company in their Cleveland office. Mr. Meehan joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2000 as a Project Manager and was promoted to Project Executive in 2014. Mr. Meehan is a Professional Engineer and is a LEED Accredited Professional (BD+C). In 2016, David was named AMHigley’s Cultural and Not-for-Profit Market Leader.
Mr. Teitenberg received a B.A. in History from the University of Dayton in 1985 and a Juris Doctorate of Laws from the Massachusetts School of Law in 1995. Originally from Connecticut, he settled in Ohio in 1999 and continued working in the construction industry. Mr. Teitenberg joined AMHigley in May 2016 as a Senior Project Manager and in December of 2016 was designated as our Education Market Leader. In 2017, Bob was promoted to Project Executive. Mr. Teitenberg is actively involved in the ACE Mentoring Program, Corporate Work Study Program for Students, and other education related volunteer activities.
Mr. Smith began his career with 5 years serving in U.S. Army Corp. In 1998, he earned his B.S. in City and Regional Planning & Political Science from The Ohio State University. Following graduation, Gavin began work at an Industrial Construction Company prior to joining an architectural firm for 15 years. In 2015, Mr. Smith joined The Albert M. Higley Co. as Senior Project Manager. In 2016, Gavin was named Project Executive and Governmental Market Leader.
